Course Duration

• Daytime course - 1 day including on-screen practice and final examinations

• Flexible study option + 2 hours in-centre for practice and final examinations, for experienced electricians currently working in the electrical industry, associated industries and candidates with limited electrical experience.You will study on our e-learning platforms blended with traditional study using your own copy of the IET Electrician's Guide to the Building Regulations publication

 

Who is this qualification for?

• Candidates who wish to understand the requirements of applicable Building Regulations (including Part P) in relation to electrical work in dwellings in England and Wales

 

• Candidates who are already familiar with the requirements of BS 7671 in relation to electrical work in dwellings

• Candidates who are over 16 years of age

 

Why take this course?

• This qualification provides an opportunity for candidates to understand the requirements of the Building Regulations applicable to electrical installations in dwellings for both Wales and England

 

• Please be aware that this qualification on its own does not provide an exception for Part P notification requirements applicable to electrical work in domestic properties or provide a direct route to registration with a competent person scheme provider (ELECSA, NAPIT etc.)

What does it cover?

Relevant aspects as covered in the IET Electrician's Guide to the Building Regulations (England and Wales) including:

• The key parts of Sections 1 - 8 which augments Approved Document P

• Section 10 which outlines Parts A, B, C, E, F, L and M

• Sections 11 and 13

 

How is the qualification assessed?

• A 40-minute 20 question on-screen multiple-choice examination (open book examination permits use of the IET Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations)

• In the unlikely event that you do not achieve a positive examination result we will provide you with one further examination attempt free of charge!
