    Electrical Installation Inspection, Testing, Certification and Reporting

    Course Code: IS2625D (Daytime Course), IS2625BFST (Blended Flexible Study and Training Programme)

     

    This is primarily a theory based course with options to include sessions to develop practical testing skills if required

     

    Course Duration

     

     

    • Daytime course - 5 days centre based training followed by 1.5 days attendance for final on-screen multiple choice open book examination and practical competence assessments

     

    • For those with no previous inspection and testing  experience the course fee includes 3 x 3 hour in-centre workshop based training sessions to develop inspection and testing skills linked to relevant theory and completion of associated documentation

     

    • Additional centre based attendance for practical pre-assessment day where applicable

     

     

    • Blended flexible study and training programme options available for those with busy lifestyles, fully supported learning using our 24/7 on-line professional learning resources, supplied EAL endorsed course books and personal tutorials with your own dedicated tutor

    • Course fee includes 3 x 3 hour in-centre workshop based training sessions to develop inspection and testing skills linked to relevant theory and completion of associated documentation

     

    • Attendance required at our training centre for examination and practical assessment competence purposes

     

    Important, please read!

     

    Although not mandatory, we recommend that candidates with previous practical experience of commissioning, inspection and testing consider completing a practical pre-assessment day in our training centre

    (this requirement is mandatory for candidates with limited or no previous practical experience)

     

    Who is this qualification for?

     

     

    • Prior achievement of a Level 3 Award in Requirements for Installations qualification 17th Edition of the IET Electrical Wiring Regulations, BS 7671 version 2008, 2011 or 2015) or the 18th Edition of the IET of the Wiring Regulations for Electrical Installations BS 7671 version 2018 is a requirement for course entry

     

    • For those with prior achievement of the Level 2 Fundemental Inspection and Testing qualification

                      

    • Experienced electricians and those looking to apply for JIB Approved Electrician Card status

     

    • Mature adults with on-site electrical experience will be considered on an individual basis subject to pre-entry

           interview and skills test to assess suitability

    The above qualification is the direct equivilent of the City & Guilds 2391-52 qualifications and equally recognised by all professional electrical industry organisations and bodies (e.g. JIB, ECS etc.)

     

    What does it cover?

     

    • Safe isolation and Initial verification of electrical installations

    • Completing the inspection of electrical installations prior to being placed into service

    • Safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations

    • Testing requirements for circuits and installations before and after they are energised

    • Completion of electrical installation certificates, condition reports and schedules

    • Safety of systems and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning

    • Inspection of electrical installations prior to them being placed into service

    • Periodic inspection and testing requirements for existing electrical installations

    • Commissioning electrotechnical systems and equipment

     

    How is the qualification assessed?

    • 1 x 2 hour 60 question open book on-line examination

     

    • 2 x practical competence assessments

    • IET 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations BS 7671 (new 2018 blue cover version - ISBN 9781785611604)

     

    • IET Inspection and Testing Guidance Note 3 (new 2018 yellow cover blue band version - ISBN 97811785614521)

     

    • Writing materials, calculator and suitable safety footwear for workshop sessions/assessment

     

    How is this course package delivered?

    • Daytime course - 5 days (9.30am to 4pm) delivered over three weeks + 1 day (9am to 4pm) for practical competence assessments + 2 hours for on-screen examination

     

    • Flexible study and training programme options are delivered to meet individual needs 

     

    How much does this course package cost

     

    • Daytime course for qualified electricians with previous inspection and testing experience -  

           £1314 (£200 deposit followed by 1 x £1114.00 payment prior to course commencement)

     

     

    • Daytime course  for electricians with limited inspection and testing experience -

           £1530.00 including mandatory practical pre-assessment day (£200 deposit followed by 1 x £1330.00 final

           payment prior to course commencement)

     

    • Daytime course  for electricians with no previous practical inspection and testing experience -

           £1830.00 including practical skills development sessions and  mandatory practical pre-assessment day (£200

           deposit followed by 1 x £1630.00 final payment prior to course commencement)

     

    • Blended flexible study and training programme for electricians with previous inspection and testing experience £996 (£500 initial payment followed by 1 x £496 final payment prior to training centre attendance for examinations, 

           practical skills development sessions and practical competence assessments)

     

    • Blended flexible study and training programme for electricians with limited inspection and testing experience - 

           £1395.00 (£500 initial payment followed by 1 x £895 final payment prior to training centre attendance for

           examinations, practical skills development sessions, practical pre-assessment day and practical competence

           assessments) 

     

    • Blended flexible study and training programme for electricians with no inspection and testing experience - 

           £1395.00 (£500 initial payment followed by 1 x £895 final payment prior to training centre attendance for

           examinations, practical skills development sessions, practical pre-assessment day and practical competence

           assessments) 

     

    • Optional pre-assessment day for electricians with previous practical experience of inspection and testing -

           £215 (Full payment required when booking)

     

    Please note -  Electricians who choose an 'experienced' option without completing a 'practical pre-assessment day' will

                              be charged applicable fees in the event of any requirement for additional attempts at the practical

                              competence assessments
